It was just really short-lived. It didn't take people long to realize putting your own seasoning on french fries when they could have just as easily done it is a moronic gimmick.

Kind of reminds me of the salad shakers they had at McDolan's. It looked like a totally hair-brained idea, and people naturally never acclimated to it, but in retrospect, it seems like a completely reasonable way to serve a fast food salad compared to their current salads which are unmixed bowls with so much stuff in them that you'll have corn and tortilla strips flying everywhere just from jostling the bastards.
