Ive been noticing both a drop in quality of farmed Salmon and drop in price(relative to other fish species). Farmed Salmon is now so cheap that lower middle class people can have salmon everyday. It is the most common staple fish because of the reduced prices and taste. But farmed atlantic Salmon are also treated far worse now than ever, with most farmed Salmon suffering from deafness to painful skin lesions as a result of the cramped conditions of fishing farms. Factory farmed Salmon look barely related to wild salmon. Salmon Factory farms destroy ecologies because of the massive amount of crap and excess feed/antibiotic runnoff produced by a Salmon farm. They also taste worse than a few years ago, because oily small fish pellets are being replaced by far more processed filler type pellets as oily fish feed skyrocket in prices due to shortage from overfishing. The healthy omega 3s oils in Salmon are dropping whilst Omega 6 oils has risen. The stress of being in cramped fishing pools has affected the taste of farmed Salmon. I think its safe to say that the farmed Salmon is now the Chicken of the Ocean.
