Like most of this insufferable "people who say 'craft' beer" culture (e.g., barrel aged beers, referring to "vintage" without even knowing the etymology of the word, etc), they're ripping off something wine people have been doing since forever, without quite knowing why, just knowing that it seems "cool" and "sophisticated" and therefore must be aped without question

Beer is great, I love beer. If there's something that will make beer taste better, great, let's do it. You know what we shouldn't do? Pretend beer is wine. It's not wine, it's made with grain and hops. So stop that please.
