he wasn't even the sjw type-- he was an old school lib who also engaged with ppl who didn't necessarily hold the same opinions he did, which is more than i can say about most ppl today (you included as far as i can tell). it gets boring being in an echo chamber and never having your thoughts and opinions challenged. it's also really stupid to purely judge someone by their political beliefs.
