My only problem with beans in chili is that too often they're used as a cheap substitute for meat, as tasteless filler.

There are awesome, flavorful beans out there that wonderfully complement the taste of various meats, but you almost never find them in chili. It's usually cheap shitty kidney beans or white beans.

Whoa dude. I worked for Cerner 2007-2012 and yeah I used their preferred-employee thing with my last complex (Camden Passage in north kc, not recommended, my unit had lots of spiders).

Cerner was an okay enough company to work for, depends on what department you're in guess, I was in the Production Management dept under CernerWorks (remote-hosted Citrix environments for hospitals/labs/etc) and that was both good and bad. What are you applying for? Developer? Be careful there - everything I heard internally was that they work their developers and app teams like dogs and that the overall climate isn't the best. And that was several years after this infamous email sent by the head of the company:

http://www.reddit.com/r/business/comments/cik6x/how_to_kill_a_companys_morale_in_one_easy_memo/

So yeah just know what you could potentially be in for if you join that company. I personally didn't consider it a gauntlet but then CernerWorks is sort of separate from the rest of the company.

Anyway some good places to eat in the northland are:

LC's Hamburgers Etc - fucking amazing greaseburgers, feels like the land that time forgot. You'll think you're gonna have a heart attack but they are just incredibly good.

Leo's Pizza - dunno if you like St Louis style pizza but this place does it even better than Imo's, and it's not even in STL. They have good sandwiches and calzones too.

The Art of Pizza - downtown KC, NY style, exceptional. Good garlic knots too

Burrito Bros - River Market area, fantastic burritos, the place is owned by some old dude that absolutely loves his job. They do chorizo and egg burritos too that are awesome, but they're open for very few hours

Right next to BB: Habashi House, you're not going to find a lot of falafel/middle-eastern places in KC but this is definitely good.

Next to HH: Carollo's Italian Deli, very good sandwiches and cheeses and meats and other Italian things

BBQ in my next post
