I saw a YouTube video the other day with a guy insisting it was the best cheese for burgers, and he even managed to do it with a straight face. I don't understand - there are so many good cheeses out there, why would anyone put this poisonous slop in their bodies?

It's not plastic. It's not technically cheese because it's not just pressed curds, but it's basically the same. It's only the really cheap brands that are weird emulsifications of vegetable oil and whatever else. American cheese is pretty good on egg sandwiches and burgers, or mixed with other cheeses for a grilled cheese though.
