engineering is a hard field to make money in, your either doing great or your working as a server until you can find a job in your field. One of the benefits of tipping culture is that if you hustle and put effort into it you can make really good money, my friend made $200 a day in tips at a IHOP while some of the other girls were lucky to pull down $30 because they were lazy and had a bad disposition. And IHOP is a shithole for poor people, a nice restaurant a server can earn way more although they usually have to pay out some of their tips to the bar tender and busboys
