Even if I were to concede the point that boiling alive is a preferable death for a lobster, you still have to ask yourself why you choose to eat it in the first place. Lobster is too expensive to eat just for survival; it's a delicacy. The animal dies solely for your pleasure. If sticking a knife through its head ruins part of the experience, whether in taste or aesthetics, the animal has been killed in vain. If it pleases you to give the lobster a faster death, do it. You've got to realize that any way you slice it, the lobster is always slain for the greater good of man.
