Looking to get an alcoholics perspective to get into the mind of my dad. He's not physically dependant on it but whenever he has a day off work and isn't kept busy all day by me or my mum he inevitably gets smashed from the morning onwards. He just lies or shuts down whenever we talk about it and refuses to get any outside help. A few questions;

Is it a low sense of self-worth that keeps you drinking?

Would a big family intervention have any sway on you whatsoever?

Any tips on helping him choose to stop?

Any hope for him at all? It’s been going on for around 20+ years now.
