Am I the only one who cooks steak ahead of time?
I come from the supermarket with 5 steaks and I cook them ony cast iron with a little bit of salt and pepper then when they cool I put them in a plate with foil and inside the fridge then I have one every night for dinner

I've spent thousands of dollar on them and I've eaten the most expensive cut at restaurants, cooked my own, from rare to well done and all I've felt is that it is average at best. Eating soup feels way way better.

Why is there an obsession with steak among a certain crowd of people?
The idea that our ancestors were eating steaks all the time before the existence of factory meat is dumb.
And I don't see how steak is "manly" when it's something 8 year olds eat because it's plain.

Does anyone here season their steaks with cocoa powder? If the answer is yes would you mind explaining why? My grandma used to do it but nobody really liked it and whenever someone would ask her why she seasons the cut with cocoa she would just tell us to fuck off and die. She took that to her grave.

Ordering steak at a restaurant (unless it's specialty, like kobe or dry-aged) isn't worth it. You're paying a % markup on an already expensive ingredient for the chef to basically throw it on the skillet, flip it once, maybe finish it in the oven, and serve it to you. Why not just buy and prepare it yourself? This applies to any dish with expensive ingredients but simple preparation, since the cost of the ingredients is the biggest driving factor behind a menu item's price.

On the other hand, I'd rather order something that consists of relatively cheap ingredients, but is labor intensive or otherwise difficult to make at home. Any type of stuffed pasta will typically cost less than a steak due to the lower cost of ingredients, and yet you're paying for someone to make the pasta, make the filling, make the sauce, and put it l together.
