Toasters are way more effective than ovens at toasting bread.
I prefer a long one like pic related because it can take more bread sizes instead of just supermarket square bread.
The babel warmer on top though is a useless thing, I've used that about twice ever, for hamburger buns. Pans are better for that.

Toasters in general though are useful, why heat an entire oven to do one side of some toast? And broilers are quick as well but you're still doing once side at a time when you want to make breakfast quickly and if you aren't watching them then you burn your toast. I'm pretty distracted at breakfast time, making coffee, toast and eggs simultaneously while talking with people and thinking about work.
