I've personally been drinking this lately, it's a Canadian whisky. Cheap, but damn if it doesn't get the job done. Goes good with soda.
I ain't a snob, I just like to get trashed.

This is what I'm drinking. $16 a handle.

It's "alright". a bit medicinal, a bit harsh (head has elements of rubbing alcohol, chemical harsh nose), what little whiskey flavor there is is kind of wimpy, but it's drinkable mixed in cola or in an old fashioned.

My other go-tos are Gordon's Gin (~$20-ish for a handle) for gimlets, G&T and Martinis, and Jose Cuervo Silver ($22-ish a handle) for margaritas with Patron citronge ($8/375ml).

Gordon's is the only one of those I'd recommend in abstract; I've had plenty of $30, $40 gins (per 750ml), and Gordon's is straight up better than most. It's got a great, strong, clean juniper flavor. It's the most archetypal gin on the mass market.

Why does Black Velvet taste worse the more you drink? Every other alcohol follows the opposite of that.
