Can someone explain to me reasonably why do Asians use chopsticks instead of "Western" kitchenware?

Don't come with the tradition argument - there have been many practices throughout every culture's history that have become totally obsolote with the introduction of more convenient methods for the same goal, and honestly, I cannot imagine a more inconvenient method for puting food into your mouth than using two sticks with one hand.

And don't come with the expensiveness of Western cutlery either - Eastern economies have been the very definition of low-cost light industry producing - for instance - fucking kitchenware for the last century or so.
