>the main staple of Canada is a pile of greasy fries and nasty cheese slopped in gravy

Why couldn't the leaves make a satisfactory cuisine?

don't get me wrong, i actually quite like poutine. the problem is that all the nearby restaurants fuck it up by straying from the basic poutine recipe

it's cheese curds, poutine gravy, and french fries. stop adding random shit like green onions and salmon. poutine isn't meant to be "fancy"

Poutine.
Specifically from New York Fries, but I'd usually get it from anywhere that offered it. I'm a sucker for the basic variety, but every so often I'd go for different toppings (ie fully loaded style from NYF).

what's some exotic food you'd like to try but have to take big steps or just generally can't be arsed to get?

I am Korean and our food sucks.

I visited Japan once and every single dish I had was heavenly.
It tasted like somebody actually put an effort in making it.
Even the convenience store food was great.

I spent a summer in Canada and fast food there made me realize how dry and cheap the burgers tasted back in Korea.
The Walmart was glorious. I've never seen such a wide selection of meat, frozen meals and snacks, and drinks.
And gravy was a revelation.

Only thing that is semi-good here is ramen.

jesus that sounds frickin' amazing, wish you and all the other kind people on this board could join. I used to exclusively surf /b/ (yes, I know) from about 2008, but the last couple of weeks I've been on /mu/, /ck/ and /sp/ and I have to say they're great. Really awesome people here. Here's a common drunk dish where I'm from, Montreal, Quebec.
