Hey /ck/ i'm planning dinner as my girlfriend's coming round this evening. Here's what I was thinking:

Starter - Ramen salad
Entree - Well-done steak
Desert - microwave brownies.

Here's where you guys come in: i'm kind of broke, so I was wondering if you knew any ways to cut back costs? I can't find anything that fits my budget. Do any of you know any cheap sauces for steak? All the normal sauces I have are too expensive ;_;

You know this is what you "beer guy" neckbeards want, right? You get pissy when a brewery makes too much beer and gets too popular. You get pissy when a brewery gets successful and attracts VC funding or (THE HORROR) a large multinational backer (see: everyone who refuses to drink Goos Island).

It's funny because one minute beer is the anti-wine, and the next, you people are tripping over yourselves to artificially set up your own equivalents of vintages, terroir, bottle age, specialized glassware, and so on. Next thing you know beerfaggotry is 10x more pretentious than even the worst stereotypes of wine drinkers and beer is only good if (a) you've never heard of it, (b) is some kind of undrinkable brett abomination, (c) loses money on every bottle, and (d) only comes in wildly impractical containers like growlers or 47 oz bottles at 12.7% ABV

At least wine drinkers judge wine by the wine and not by whether the PO box of the holding company is in an acceptable country.

Welcome to the craft neckbeer world. Not even winefags are this bad. I mean sometimes you see an entry level who refuses to drink "big labels" because they think it makes them sound sophisticated, and then you have them taste a few from E. Guigal or Domaine Faiveley and they shut right up.

I'd like to think that in 20 or 30 years when it stops being "craft beer" and starts being just "beer" like in the rest of the civilized world, we can have adult discussion about beer, but right now and for the foreseeable future it's MOAR MOAR MOAR and BIGGEST BOLDEST HOPPEST and who can be the most obscure limited release 15% ABV obscuro hipster bullshit humanly possible. That, and "defeating" wine and every other alcoholic beverage imaginable, because of course beer is a WW2 documentary starring tom hanks and the enemy is everyone from AB Inbev to hallertau hops to the guy who sold Goose Island to the dirty yuropoors to anyone who doesn't drink beer over all else.

Plus the wine bottles used as decoration. I usually consider that a warning sign that a wine bar is going to suck. It's one thing to have them in a convenient location which happens to be visible, but to just smear them all over the walls like that suggests they are catering to people who think wine is a lifestyle fetish fashion statement, i.e. people who are not actually into wine, but instead, the idea of wine.

They probably have the wine list divided in an asinine fashion like "fruity reds", "refreshing whites", etc.

2/10 would not patronize, this bar is way below my standards
