You mean this one, the Scotch starter chart?

Believe me its crap. Skip the start and the pathways, and go straight to the end of the paths.

If you're unfamiliar with single malt Scotches, you need the single malt Scotch starter chart. You start with the light, weak crap, Glenmorangie 10. Ardbeg is way, way down the rabbit hole.

What should I get as a good introduction into whiskies? Thinking between Wild Turkey 101 or Glenmorangie 10? Is picrel any good or just a meme?
>>16816067
I kind of like the sound of Islay whiskies. How much do they differ from the standard ones? Would getting an Ardbeg, Laphroaig or Smokehead as a first be a bad idea?

this is popular around here, but not necessarily based around price although everything on the chart should be under $80 USD in 2021 with a couple exceptions being the Lagavulin 16 which can go up to $130-ish(if you have access to Costco its almost half that) and the Longrow(basically anything from Campbelltown has become Kuwaiti bullion in the Gulf War tier). the chart is more of a jumping off point because once you get a dozen or so bottles under your belt you should know your preferences and then price becomes less prominent unless ur an alkie or legit poorfag, no offense.

You mean this? This is a Scotch flow chart.

The whiskey value chart was already posted here (>>16742662).

Then there was these two Scotch charts (>>16754212), (>>16755945).

The only other Scotch chart is the reddit chart. I'll reply to this post with it attached.

Excellent. I picked up a bottle a few years ago out of curiosity (I drank bourbon exclusively and wanted to try something different) and because I had heard good things. At first, I didn't care for it and found the smokiness off-putting and it had an almost antiseptic taste to it. It cost me about $50 though so I wasn't going to dump it and would pour a small glass from time to time. About a third of the way through the bottle, I started to pick up on some of the more subtle flavors and it really grew on me. There's a refreshing spring water quality to it and the peaty smoke adds an earthiness that's warming. It's like putting on an old wool sweater. If you're new to Islay Scotch, I'd say not to let your initial thoughts put you off. It takes some time to appreciate it but you'll soon become old friends.

Picked up the Glendronach 12 based off this image, I didnt see the chart get much criticism in the thread that I saw it in months ago so hopefully it goes well. How should I enjoy it? Also what is everyone's thought on whiskey stones?

I buy everything online now because the liquor store clerks were getting a little too chummy with me going in 3 or 4 times a week. It takes usually about 2 days to get here, and its usually about 20% than the local liquor stores even with shipping.
I'm going off the meme chart, I hvave tried reveything on the right hand side except Longrow peated

There's a couple that have floated around here. Everyone agrees they're pretty not-great though. There's this thing too which is still not perfect but is good: https://scotchgit.bitbucket.io/

Black label is shit, and scotch is almost always going to be lighter on flavor than bourbon. Find somewhere else to buy booze because $35 for is a rip-off for black label.

Like the poster above said get a copita to smell the scotch better. A glencairn is fine too.

Good starter single malts are glenlivet 12, glenmorangie 10, and glenfiddich 12. Great King Street Artist's Blend and Glasgow Blend are good cheaper blended scotch. Green label is the only good Johnnie Walker.
