Super Size Me's biggest problem is that he misses the forest for the trees in the context of the big fast food and soda company's ridiculous advertising budgets and their advertising strategies. Having major athletes and celebrities marketing sodas and fast food, selling fast food playsets to children, the entire creation of Ronald McDonald, etc. It would have been a much more compelling movie if it showed how these mega conglomerates use shady techniques to hock all their crap. Saturday morning cartoons up until the late 2000's were footbilled by fast food chains. A study once showed that fast food ads were more than half of ALL ads shown on a Saturday morning block. You used to have Krispy Kreme or McDonalds employees giving vouchers and coupons outside of schools and rewards for a free burger or soda for good enough grades. I even remember that there were M&M's books and novels in the school library. The government regulated toy advertisements but the fast food and junk food lobbyists made sure that they could advertise how they wanted to for years until they self-regulated themselves.
