As a man of discriminating taste, I go for anything I can top with the “chili” and “cheese” which has been aged to perfection in the push-button dispenser.
The complex flavors which have matured over time can not be replicated simply by buying equivalent things in cans. You will not find the level of refinement that can only occur with indeterminate age and being held at dispenser-warm temperature.

Indeed, gas station chili/cheese are the 20yr Scotch of toppings.

The key is being aged to perfection within a countertop 7-11 chili-sauce warmer.
Nothing fresh, or from a newly opened can will ever compare. It cannot be rushed. Only the slow march of Father Time can fully develop the flavors.
It is the 25yo scotch of chili sauces. While not for everyone, a true connoisseur will accept no less.
