The real reason fastfood is so unaffordable is not because of inflation. Its because they know you can't cook for shit and you wont cook shit. they got you where they want you, addicted and reliant on take out. Basically they charge up the ass because they know you will buy it instead of taking your lazy ass to the grocery store. I rarely eat out and let me tell you, its alot cheaper and heslthier to cook your own food, but then again i do know how to cook. Must suck to be a fat usless manchild who cant even make the basics. even the "minimum flame after strong steam"
a tips you missed was:
if you want the rice not to scorch or adhere to the bottom, mix it up again when it's about to boil, THEN lower the heat

I strongly suspect this rice cooking method was given to you by papa, you know if you know, including the recent kombu stukudani around this board, but I could be wrong.
Still, it's a solid way to cook rice, can't go wrong unless one is a giga-retardo

not my problem. Bread is dirt cheap here and exceeds any form of home-made bread because they have specialized high-pressure high-moisture baking racks. But hey, I'm using a 11L oven, who am I to judge.
