You're in luck! You don't need broth! You can make your own with what you have. If your chicken has bones in it, that's what you want to use to make the broth.

Thaw the chicken and then use a knife to cut most of the meat off of the bone. Any left over scraps of bone or fat or skin go into a pot of water. Add celery, onion, bay leaves, a carrot or two and boil everything. You'll see dirty looking foam start to collect on the top. Take a large spoon and scoop that foam out and throw it in the sink. You don't want that shit in your soup. Simmer on low for as close to 4 hours as you can. Doesn't have to be precise. Cooking is an art, not math.

Once time is up, use tongs or a slotted spoon to pull the big chunks of old bones and vegetables out of the pot. If you want to get fancy and make it super clear, strain it through a siv or cheese cloth. This isn't necessary for soup.

Now all you have to do is add the things into the stock pot that you want in your soup. Chop up the chicken into chunks and toss it in. Throw some egg-noodles into the pot. Chop a fresh carrot and celery and whatever else you want in your soup. Salt and pepper and garlic and maybe some parsley or scallions. Boil everything until tender and cooked through.

Voila. Home made soup.
