there’s nothing wrong with it per se, but I have never known someone who owns one of these who knows how it works and why it makes food so crispy, which shows that they don’t understand the underlying principles of cooking. I’ve literally heard people say “you HAVE to get one anon, it’s like magic, it makes fries crispy like nothing else!” which just isn’t true, they just don’t know how to use the convection setting on their oven.

sure it’s slightly faster for crisping up small batches of food or cooking like a single pastry, but I’d rather save valuable counter space and just use the oven whenever I need to do something like that, which is rare, and I think most people who know what they’re doing would feel the same.

again, it's essentially just extremely mild cheddar that melts better because of the emulsifying citrate. I enjoy plenty of sharper, moldier cheeses, but their deli american cheese is perfect for quick sandwiches or burgers.

I don't know how many times people need to hear this, but kraft singles are "cheese food product" and aren't even legally cheese, whereas deli American actually IS CHEESE.

putting a slice of american cheese into a blend essentially just adds very mild flavor but also adds the emulsifying salts that held it together, which help blend a more aged cheese into whatever you're doing more smoothly. If you don't have a fucking container of sodium citrate around, or feel like making a roux everytime you need an emulsion with sharp or artisan cheeses, it's a quick shortcut and works relatively well. That said I wouldn't fucking pair it up with many cheeses, it makes no sense to take an expensive product and then melt it down into what's essentially fancy cheese dip
