i tried to make pickled cucumber once but it got all mushed and soft. i think the shops just don't have the right type of cucumber where I live.

How to correctly make pickles? I tried pickling cucumbers, I cut the ends off and added bayleafs but after a week or so the cucumbers were soft and instead of crunchy. All the videos I've watched say by cutting the ends off and adding bayleaf/tea leaves the cucumbers will be crunchy.

I live in a old ass unit that was built in the 60s, there are lots of crevasses, holes and cracks. I bombed them couple of times but they just come back. It is futile.
