>Sister's bf wants to impress parents
>He says he'll cook dinner
>He's a mushroom hunter on the weekends and sells them to farmers market stands
>Brings a bag of chanterelles
>Stern father looks at it and says No, it is too risky to eat wild mushrooms.
>Bf tries to explain he's been doing it for years after studying with a pro and that there are no bad shrrooms that look like them in our region
>Mother tries a little (sauteed lightly in butter)
>I try one
>tastes like a mushroom not sure what the hype is
what does /ck/ think of them?

I've hated most mushrooms all my life. Is there a way to start liking them or is it a genetic thing like cilantro? The only ones I do like are uncooked button mushrooms and maybe oyster.

>Tried all kinds shitake, button cooked, portabella and more
>Cooked various ways, grilling or sauteed
>They all tasted meh like bad dirt
>Friend is a mushroom hunter and sells chanterelles
>Gives me a pound and say It will change anyone's mind about mushrooms
>I sautee in salt, olive oil, and butter
>Taste is mediocre but i wouldn't pay money for it
>Throw the rest away but tell him I shared it because it's $30/lb

I'm not a picky eater too.
