I know what you're referring to and you information (or interpretation) is distorted.

Things to remember bruh: we have a lot of illegal but pending immigrants in detention because they rocked up undocumented; during covid their accommodations in hotels had to be *ahem* adjusted for public safety and tough shit. also, we have large communities (literal country-sized communities) of sovereign indigenous land which have nothing but problems: extremely poor public health, high crime, domestic violence, sexual abuse, etc. Australia has taken a hard no-tolerance policy to this bullshit and has banned alcohol and even pornography in gigantic swaths of this country because evidence shows those things make these problems worse. These communities are extremely vulnerable to pathogens in general, mostly due to the statistically horrid public health situation. Those communities are off-limits by default; they're sovereign territory not open to tourists or gawkers of do-gooders. During covid the gov't rightly (imo) circumvented a zombie apocalypse deathtrap scenario and locked those communities down even more than they were. Yes, this meant residents couldn't leave as they could normally, but also meant others couldn't go in and risk infection.

Tough titty. They so strongly reject outside influence they petition for their lands to made a sovereign country and quite frankly during the potential health crisis with the pandemic the gov't here accommodated responsibly, but always controversially

Well it doesn't have to move you up in the world per se, but it does help when you try to have a good day rather than a "I hate everything" day. Suit yourself though by all means.

a lot of people were raised with the expectation to enjoy salty and sweet foods, and simultaneously were raised by people who don't understand how to cook well.

this is why literally tens or hundreds of millions of kids love sugary breakfast cereal and chinese food. nothing has ever shown them any better so they don't know better.

I was literally in my mid-to-late 20s when I appreciated things like brussie sprouts and brock and kale

I imagine the oven is just convenient. You know how it is when you're making food with various pots pans etc going at once. If you just toss something out of the way in the oven while you fuck the whole kitchen up it's probably good planning.

I think his approach was rational, although when you're making a whole dish the stakes are kind of high and it probably would have been advised to follow intuition. But sometimes rules is rules.

†bh is to avoid the filter, yonks is a common term here

so get fucked agnon.

also I don't have an insulated bag but maybe that would help, although that would be a pretty single-use purchase which I kinda don't really like to do. I have like a 30min walk from the store so even though ice cream will survive the walk, it fucks up the texture. Sometimes if I buy lots of frozen stuff and pack them all together in my backpack they keep eachother frozen long enough to get home, so I guess I just need to plan specific freezer trips

It costs like $1 anon, just buy it once and try it on chicken or rice or something. It's just a spice blend. But, I've kind of gotten over the whole "lel spice blends are just spices you have at home" mentality, only because some spice blends aren't just a marketing gimmick. Sometimes people have landed on a perfect mix that really fucking nails it and it's worth giving it a shake rather than try from scratch to reinvent the wheel.

McCormick's Montreal Steak does this as does their lame no-frills "chicken seasoning" (seriously after like 4 years of perfecting chicken seasoning myself I went right back to it because it's fucking better), and Lawyr's does this too.

Sometimes you want to cook harder, sometimes you want to cook better, sometimes it's not the same process.

I have one small painting I added since that photo but the area above the fireplace is still bare.

The thing that shits me is there are little anchored hangers in the wall but they aren't level and they aren't spaced evenly, and they weren't put in with any consideration to be centered. so I kind of just ignore it because it would be so out of balance if I tried to hang things. I wouldn't try things like command strips either because the paint is very matte and uneven as the walls are rendered concrete

I don't cook things like chiggin breast dry without oil, but on stainless steel you definitely need a lot more oil. on my nonstix it's like a drop, just for the thermal contact and then it's all good. I fully appreciate steel pans but as a singleƒag in a rented townhouse I have to prioritize the cookware that's most useful to me; which is a small cast iron, a big cast iron, a cast iron grill pan, a tiny nonstick skillet, a 12" nonstick skillet, a deep braising/stir fry nonstick, and then a few different pots.

I have no need to just start adding steel skillets purely for the sake of collecting different types. I love their thermal properties but this is $$ I prefer not to spend on overflowing my cupboards with moar cookware

they're cleaned which reduces their shelf live by like 50% of sommat. if you leave them covered in fæces they last longer or whatever.

if you refrigerate eggs like most do it makes literally no difference either way. also I've noticed that in Stralia the eggs used to be just on a shelf near the bread or whatever, but for the last maybe 5 years they're kept refrigerated. I don't know if this is because they're washing them now or not. Half the eggos I buy have small spots of poop and feathers stuck to them so idunno what's going on
