Because they got people hooked with cheap bait for a few years, now they are upgrading and hoping addicts will keep their consumption habits to make themselves more money. 2010-2011 was rough for them, with the whole horse meat fiasco. I remember they were giving away free five layers for months as an apology for feeding people horse. I personally didn't mind eating horse, heck.... I'd eat a five layer even if they said it was made of armadillo. But other people got butthurt. 9 years later they finally got that blemish behind them and are trying to market themselves to a fancier crowd, I think it started around 2016 when they started featuring celebrity chefs making posh salads for them. The super cheap days are over :'(
