What's the weirdest thing you've seen somebody do with their food under the impression it's healthier?

My roommate insists on "doubly drying" all his pasta. He'll boil pasta in the morning, and just leave it sitting out all day until they get all stale and shriveled up, and then toss them back in the pot and boil them again and eat these tiny nasty mushy noodles he insists are healthier because doing it this way "boils out the sodium" and I have no fucking clue where he got that idea from but he's convinced he's figured out the secret to pasta.

I'm convinced at this point someone taught him how to cook noodles this way as a joke.

4,000 year-old Late Neolithic noodles from China, shown here on a sediment cone after the inverted earthenware bowl containing them was removed. Scale bar, 1 cm. These were thought to be the world's oldest noodles until OP fagged along into this thread and fucked up their discovery.
