You pay a deposit on most containers:
Glass beer bottles: 0.08€
Most glass water/juice/lemonade bottles, some glass beer bottles: 0.15€
Almost all plastic/metal single-use containers (bottles, cans): 0.25€
There are some exceptions (wine, many dairy containers).
After use, you can return the container to the shop and get your deposit back. A lot of people also collect empty cans and bottles for money (picrel: a campaign calling people to not throw their containers away, but leave then next to the trash can for Pfand-collectors). Both things drastically reduce littering.

I wasn't sure what the guy in the video bought (what kind, how much, on- or off-brand)), so I went with Ja!. It's the medium-aged Gouda, so it's a bit more expensive than what most people buy.
