Man, the brightest guy in our department is 32 and publicly makes around $6,000,000/yr. He's a development lead. Not a manager, not a project lead, he's a developer. He leads the coding projects and we all submit code to his projects. Quite a few of us are outsourced to making voice assistants that use Google's or Microsoft's fluidity API to build voice assistants that are indistinguishable from other humans. When you call Comcast or Apple nowadays you are probably talking to a server without knowing it. If it hasn't hit market yet (I haven't tried it yet) it's within five year's reach. This shit is getting weird. Our last project we setup a framework for a motorcycle company's sales department to sell motorcycles without human input. Essentially it finds trends in user history based on their public vehicle history and connects the dots to label them and push their Facebook advertising and whatnot to keep putting the same new bike in front of their eyes. You click, talk, etc about it afterward and we make 8% of the buy. It translates voice and uses your search history. It's pretty scary how we put it together in three months. AI will take over sales, marketing, and customer service. The manned parts of owning a service will be completely commission based on the future. It's scary.
