Maybe I’m missing something but espresso seems like the dumbest shit imaginable. You spend hundreds of dollars (at minimum) on bulky and finicky equipment only to begin a seemingly endless process of trial and error which, even when approached with exacting precision, produces totally inconsistent results. I’ve seen people spend $2000 or more on their “setups” and then state with a straight face that that less than a third of third of their shots are really good. Meanwhile with tea, I can buy a $20 teapot or gaiwan, and make multiple delicious cups every single time just by eyeballing it. What gives?
