Why is tomato sauce pasta such a thing? It's disgusting and yet it's one of the most common meals in the world

Alfredo is better, hell any cheese based sauce is better, Alfredo should be the default pasta rather than tomato shit, anybody else agree? I can't be the only one who thinks tomato sauce + pasta = an incredibly overrated and frankly not very good combination.
