My parents aren't married, but they get along well enough and I get along with them. Strong ciders are my favorite, not my go to because they're usually kinda expensive, but when I can afford them this is the sort of thing I get

Cider is a good place to start, hard liquor and wine are quite strong for people who aren't used to them, and it's sweeter and lighter than beer. I like Schilling a lot, but get whatever is good/cheap/local to you
