Fresh egg on hot, steaming rice. Seasoned with just a bit of soy sauce.

It got me through rough times, man. I would be stressed and broke, or too tired, or too heartbroken to make anything but this dish was so easy to whip up and it always lifted my spirits up.

It was what my mom's favorite comfort food too when she was alive. She would usually come home late from the hospital, tired and broken down, and this was what she would whip up most of the time. Sometimes 5 year old me would fall asleep on the living room couch adjacent to the kitchen, and I would wake up from the noise. And she would always offer me a couple spoonfuls before she even had any, kiss me on the forehead, and then tell me to go to my room.
