my father in law pulls this shit all the time.

He'll actually get up early to get the beef in the oven so it's perfectly ruined in time for lunch. the ends are like eating actual boot leather and the middle bit goes all grainy and sucks any moisture out of your mouth. and the worst bit is his mother and wife sit there at the table going 'ooh this is a lovely bit of beef Gavin, ooh it's beautifully cooked Gavin'.
