The Hut Out-pizza'd itself back in 1988.
They never recovered from this, only staunched the hemorrhaging of quality and revenue with brief pop-up gimmicks and novelties like the Priazzo and then continually diminishing in effect others.
The corpse had fully stiffened by the time Blockbuster was dead--maybe before, IDK, I haven't eaten that garbage for over 25 years.

May also have something to do with Coke changing it's formula because of corn subsidies and PepsiCo (their owners at the time,)trying to keep up with them by cheaping up the pizza hut ingredients with corn syrup and other AG shit as well. Not really sure. They were the first pizza place to have pizza ordering online via PizzaNet...
