I grew up with a Jewish Ashkenazi mother and Greek father In the UK. I grew up around Jewish and Greek food and have a serious passion for the latter.
Jewish food in the UK I think is very different to what they have in the US, I utterly adore Jewish baking though. challah bread is seriously good and underrated along with some of the amazing chewy bagels I used to buy in North London Jewish bakeries when I lived there. But traditional Ashkenazi cuisine in general really isn't that interesting, it's all boring soups, overcooked brisket and fermented fish topped off with sublime bread. It's just glorified Eastern European food, so really nothing that special. I imagine that French, Moroccon and Syrian Jews must have a far more interesting cuisine.
