Literally run a blade through your loaf before putting it in the over. Youtube "scoring bread loaf" for more into.

That will control how you bread expands so it doesnt look like a zombie mutant after its baked.

It could be frustrating at the start when creating the culture. For me, when I'm in doubt I dont feed it for 36-48 hours. Sometimes overfeeding it just doesn't work for me (every 12-24).

My secret strat is to use rye flour during the last day or 2 before baking. During the start i do a 50/50 bread & rye. doing 100% rye flour at the end pretty much promises double growth which is perfect use when you are ready to bake bread.

Not bad for a 1st loaf. My solution to the burnt bottom is to add a baking sheet below your dutch oven AFTER you remove the lid. This will dissipate the heat a bit, when you remove the lid youre objective is to finish the top of the bread the bottom is already done.

I also suggest adding an ice cube at the same time as adding in the bread into the preheated dutch oven. Place the ice cube inbetween the parchment paper and dutch oven, dont let it touch the bread. Quickly place the lid back on and toss it in the oven. This will create a steaming effect and rise your bread to great heights.

Also score your bread before placing it in the dutch oven.

OP here

I've came to the conclusion that my starter was not strong enough..

I ended up emptying it out after about 35 hours onto a counter top and it was just so... sticky and wet.. like a pancake batter consistency.

On a large skillet i heated up some EVOO and just made a shitty flatbread so i didnt waste it.

By far my worst attempt yet. picrel are my breads
