It can't and the problem is not being able to scale up due to vat size. Grow culture is the perfect environment to grow cells which makes it the perfect environment to grow contamination. You can't ever really stop that from happening so you must limit the size of your grow vats to stop a single microbe from destroying too large of a batch. This stops you from scaling up and gaining efficiency.

The second problem is that it takes way more energy (land area) to grow vat food than feeding cows the parts of a plant humans can't eat.

>Lab-grown meat holds promise as a sustainable alternative, allowing people to enjoy meat without the environmental drawbacks of traditional livestock farming.
It's impossible to do that because of small batch sizes and the insane chance of contamination. Also livestock is a critical part of the food production industry consuming parts of plants humans can't eat and subsidizing crop growers by buying waste as feed. Also grazing animals use land that's unsuited for productive farming.

Animals turn literal garbage into high quality food.

What would you do with all that waste if you don't upcycle it into food? And how would you make up for that loss in the human food supply?

I've never seen a vegan eat agricultural waste, despite constantly insisting we should eat it ourselves instead of feeding it to animals.

>"most crops are fed to animals! we could just eat it ourselves"
>Animal feed is mostly byproduct of production for human use which is inedible and would have to be discarded if it wasn't fed to animals. Animals turn waste into high quality food. Without animals we would have to grow far more crops and cause far more environmental destruction due to inefficiency caused by not upcycling waste into food.

The point of GMOs is to make plants survive larger and larger amounts of of pesticides and herbicides (to increase yields and profits )that end up in the water supply and on your table. Spoiler alert: it's the same company modifying stains of plants that is selling those estrogenic agrochemicals that are literally turning the frogs gay.

>half of the world’s crops are used for animal feed
This is vegan propaganda from a paper paid by grain mills. They distributed crops by weight and then concluded that they are grown for animal because the majority of it is not edible by humans.
The only edible crops we give to animals are grains, which are 1/3 of global production.
