its not actually that absurd to add a sprinkling of water to your patties before forming them, really just wetting your hands is enough, it helps them glide off your hands and form a little better

imo, Jack is like the opposite of Kay's Cooking
Kay cooks like she only understands cooking in concept, she saw someone do it thru a keyhole in the door and is now trying to figure out the basics but doesnt understand the small invisible aspects like method or seasoning, so she assumes its not a factor
"what if a ravioli? well i guess its dough, and theres uh... stuff in it.... so ill make some dough and put stuff in it... meat is stuff, right? uh... and then ill uh..... heat the dough.... soooomehow?" its like fucking minecraft cooking, you mash vageuly related stuff together and leave out the details
Jack is similar in that he doesnt know cooking, but instead of UNDERestimating it, he OVERestimates what he has to do. "nobody ever taught me how to make a burger, but theres nooo way its as simple as forming a patty and grilling it. there has to be more faff involved, there just has to... if i make it convoluted enough itll look impressive eventually"
