It's true. I think it would take a major shift in public opinion for it to happen. And it would be really difficult.
It could only work if every mcdonalds (or at least most mcdonalds in major cities) was picketed, and people actually respected the picket line, and boycotted the business.

People seem to have this belief that fast food jobs are only for teenagers, but in reality it's mostly desperate adults trying to feed their families.
People also assume it's easy to just develop skills, and get a better job if they don't like their current one. It's clearly not that easy. If trade school/university was free, or at least affordable on minimum wage, then I'd accept that argument.

My country is leaving the EU, and I've gotten 5 job rejections this week.
