Not nip, actually gook, but I would argue the main staple of nippon cuisine is actually miso soup, which is just fermented salty soybeans with rice. Their curry is also surprisingly good, and their ramen is actually pretty based, but everything else is super meh.

Tempura is pretty good too, I guess, and so is tonkatsu and gyudon, but those are something of a treat that you might eat once every now and then. Japanese food just doesn't have enough meat, and meat is the number one important ingredient if you want a satisfying dish.
