I'm not usually defending gluttony, but longevity sounds like a stupid standard by which to measure life. If a guy loves fatty food and would be unhappy without it, maybe 25 years with burgers are better than 70 without. Same thing if a guy likes drugs or extreme sports. Trying to hold on to your life and not living it as a consequence sounds really sad imo.

If you mean that in the 'it gets better' sense, I agree. If you mean crippling depression or untreatable, painful disease are better than a lack of consciousness, I really can't see how anyone would think that.

It can be. It improves a lot the more it ages, because it really needs a couple of years to develop that mellow flavor. But I must say, I don't like the rather fruity whiskies that much either. I'm more of a Islay kind of guy.
