ITT: Meme chefs

I posted earlier in the week about eating at Dinner by Heston. I never got back to the thread before it fell off the board because, oddly enough, 4chan blocks posts from the IP address used by the Conrad St. James hotel.

Anyway, I ate there and I have to say I left sorely disappointed. Some thoughts:

- Part of it may be that I'm spoiled. I'm used to eating tastings and tapas, getting a lot of variety.While the girl and I did have two different starters, mains, and desserts, plus a final ice cream, it did feel a little stuffy to have a starter and a main and a dessert.

- My mindset was that I was going to get the Fat Duck, a modern, avant guarde experience. The Fat Duck is currently in Australia, where it sorted it's 14000 available seats to 250, 000 requests by lottery. Dinner is not the Fat Duck.

- But I think that because it is of Heston that it does so well in the Pellegrino list. No, it's not Fat Duck, but it's one of his, so they give it the credit the temporarily shuttered restaurant has earned. Michelin only gives Dinner two stars, and I wouldn't give them any. Fourth or seventh best IN THE WORLD, no fucking way, mate. No fucking way.

I am in Londonistan and happened to nab a table at Dinner for me and the 21-year-old blonde of the moment.

They don't have a tasting menu as best I can tell and the dishes all look grand. Anyone been here who can suggest what's particularly special?
