My mom dated a guy from Lebanon who told us that he went home to visit and after a meal, he asked the waiter for a doggie-bag to take his left overs home. His family gave him weird looks. Apparently, when you ask to take your leftovers home in that part of the world, it's saying that you're too poor to leave food behind and is unclassy.

He ended up taking the food home and eating it in front of his parents just to give them the middle finger about being wasteful pretentious sheep.
