Ideally you'll take steps before/while you drink rather than try to fix things after the fact. NAC is great, but as another anon said, you should take it (10-30 minutes) before drinking, not the next day. Drinking plenty of water with your hooch is common sense; other functional drinks like kombucha and coconut water are also swell. I almost always have a big pot of herbal tea before bed, whether I drink or not; something like peppermint-dandelion helps mitigate nausea and also provides decent protection against alcoholic damage. Modest natural sedative teas like chamomile, valerian, lavender or lemon balm can help improve sleep quality when you need it.
If it's too late and you're already hungover, try to knock back some natural caffeinated drinks- black coffee, green tea, yerba mate, etc. Stronger stims like amphetamine are not recommended. If it's a particularly bad hangover just eat some crackers or a handful of peanuts or something; if it's not so bad, go for a greasy meal. Eggs are good.
Assuming you can keep down a meal, take a milk thistle extract capsule with it. Makes no real difference for your feeling in the moment, but your liver will appreciate it, especially if you drink often. Avoid NSAIDs stronger than baby aspirin. A B-complex is also helpful since those vitamins get depleted by booze. "Adaptogenic" supplements like ashwaganda, rhodiola or spirulina may also help.

>opioids kill a hangover instantly
I guess it depends how you're wired. Even top-tier opioids only make me feel heavy and nauseous; they're the last thing I would want.

He's the only Trump Derangement Syndrome victim I actually feel for. That presidency, or at least the media take on it, was the last thing the poor guy needed.
