Seriously, even if there's 2 unarmed criminals in your house they're potentially on drugs and actually willing to break laws. Why would you willingly disarm yourself and put yourself and your family at a defensive disadvantage? Also my family taught me gun safety as a kid, and I double-learned it in the Scouts. No reason a kid should be in a gun-owning household without learning safety basics. They don't stick their hands on the stove either. NRA safety is actually becoming optional for public schools in my State.
