do you /turk/ ck?

I've always enjoyed turkish coffee at kebab turkish restaurants or kebab houses, but have been starting to making it at home. Just bought some african coffee beans from the supermarket, set their grinder to "turkish", added in some cinnamon, cardamon and star anise, and now I have a bag of the shit good to go. Even froths up when you add it to boiling water, just like it should. I've ordered a cezve, should be hilarious to make coffee in one of those.

Sort of...

1. Take 1tbs of powdery ground coffee per serving and add to container.
2. Add sugar, if desired.
3. Add cold water and stir.
4. Bring up to temp, but do not boil.
5. If the coffee is fresh and ground right, the oils in the coffee will start to bubble and froth before the coffee actually boils. Once the coffee starts to froth, remove from heat and serve. Some will repeat this process a couple of times before serving.
6. Give the coffee about 30 seconds before drinking to cool and allow the grains to settle.

This approach creates a coffee with a fuller body and flavor due to the fact that the crema / froth is included in each serving, and there's more coffee grains suspended in the brew itself. It's in between a good espresso and a moka / filter coffee.

Have you tried Turkish coffee cu/ck/s?

It's not the coffee that's any different, it's the brewing approach.

Turkish coffee is simply ANY coffee that is ground to a fine powder, placed in a container with water, and heated just below the point of boiling until a layer of crema / foam develops on the top, where it is then poured into a cup. The end result is a coffee that has almost the same kind of flavor and texture that a proper machine espresso has, but without the need of having a machine.

The only downsides to this approach is that you do need to be attentive while brewing it, or it will either foam out the top of the brew kettle onto your burner, or boil, which shits up the flavor. The other downside is that the coffee grains settle to the bottom of your cup, so if you're a retard, you might accidentally suck up a mouthful of grains.

It's the best approach to brewing coffee outside a proper machine, bar none.

Historically coffee was likely to prepared like Turkish coffee. With finely ground beans already in the pot and sugar already added.

I don't have it very often because I'm too lazy to make it at home but Turkish coffee is my absolute favorite.

The best cup of coffee I've ever had is the one time I had Turkish coffee.
