Those of you who say "I have tasted the best soup of my life and already I mourn, knowing all lesser soups are ruined to me" as more than idle flattery are, then, fools twice: marring the present enjoyment of apex soup with the self-fulfilling speculation of drab futures full of looking back on this moment, which you are too busy dwelling on your pessimist's future to properly enjoy, and marking it as your excuse for finding no pleasure in the good humble broth which will in that future moment be laid before you by some goodly server. He who cannot have his soup and love it too, unconditionally with any other memory of soup, so long as it is a worthy stock in its own execution, cannot truly claim to be of the living. He who cannot immerse himself in the joy and beauty of soup freely mingling present taste and smell and texture with pleasant harmonious recollections of soups past, cannot truly claim wisdom. Use your firearm if you will, brute, for only mortality can stop my love of soups.
