Homemade lunches were for poor kids. Rich kids got the name brand lunch products because they'd demand them after seeing the TV commercials. Same as with getting the latest video games, or the most elaborate pogs and slammers collection, or the full set of interlocking Megazords even including the Green Ranger's Dragonzord, or the rarest Beanie Babies, etc.
