in socal it used to be meat, guacamole, pico and thats it. its still the staple burrito. no rice, no beans, no lechuga.
but now, theres stupid shit like california burrito, mission style, tj taco's, rolled tacos and sour cream guac with salad on top and a bunch of other gimmick foods.
carne asada fries seem to be a hit everywhere these days almost superseding carne asada nachos which was the staple stoner food.

the bay has good mex food you just have to look. SF unfortunately has lost a lot of their latino culture that was prevalent in the mission due to tech companies gentrifying the area. same name meme burrito spots on 16th but the food is lacking these days..
el farolito/el faro on 24th towards 3rd has stayed the same because it is entrenched in the hood and mexicans actually eat there. and if you dont want rice and beans you always can tell them so. like any other place.
