i do not frequent walmart, but what the fuck can i say, but every once in a while for something random i will go. my local walmart has 2 "self-checkout" areas that each have like 10 stations, so about 50% of the check out stations are self serve kiosks. they always seem to be busy. i have to imagine these stations are more complicated than a fast food order would be (with the whole bagging/ weighing operation)

tl;dr the future is now and these alread work.
